In Kano, players take turns collecting paint pots from a shared central board and placing them on their personal boards to form patterns matching famous artworks. When a pattern is completed, the corresponding artwork tile is claimed, replacing the used paint pots. Players may swap adjacent pots before taking them, and only pots of the same color in a row or column can be collected at once. Each turn, players aim to complete Works of Art, including Major Works and Masterpieces, which score more points. Excess pots are converted into mini-artworks that do not score. The game ends when a player fills their board; all players then complete the round, and points are tallied based on unique artworks, completed major works, and fully filled boards. The highest total score wins, with ties broken by the number of different artworks created. Strategy revolves around planning which patterns to complete, managing available colors, and timing actions to maximize scoring opportunities. The game blends tactical decisions, pattern recognition, and resource management within an art-themed framework.

  • CREATE FAMOUS WORKS OF ART: Collect colorful paint pots from the shared central board and arrange them on your personal board to recreate patterns inspired by famous artworks and claim their corresponding tiles.
  • PLAN EVERY COLOR YOU COLLECT: Take matching paint pots of the same color from a row or column, with the option to swap adjacent pots first, creating tactical opportunities to secure the colors your artwork needs.
  • COMPLETE MAJOR WORKS & MASTERPIECES: Carefully choose which patterns to pursue as you work toward increasingly valuable Works of Art, including Major Works and Masterpieces that provide greater scoring opportunities.
  • BALANCE PATTERNS & RESOURCES: Manage limited colors, anticipate available paint pots, and time your actions carefully. Excess pots become mini-artworks that don't score, rewarding efficient planning and resource management.
  • BUILD THE HIGHEST-SCORING GALLERY: When a player fills their personal board, finish the round and score unique artworks, completed Major Works, and fully filled boards. The player with the highest total score wins.
