As I usually play 5e, this is such a fun new system as well as an exciting setting. The Arkham horror world is so vividly described here and the art is amazing (and made me go purchase the Art of Arkham Horror book). You can certainly gain the hang of the system within 1 or 2 sessions and the sample adventure was perfect. A 5 out of 5.
Initially, I was having trouble wrapping my head around some items of the rule system. However, it hit me that the under-arching system was the same as the board game or elder signs. It was a great melding of the two systems and I'm looking forward to having my investigators go insane.
Beautiful book
Very investing yet easy to understand rules! Beautiful Art! My gaming group loves it!
As a CoC veteran and an avid player of the Arkham Horror card game/board games in the universe, I was immediately intrigued on this system. I love the universe and wanted more of it and I was pleasantly surprised to see a fantastic system with a lot of thoughtful building. As a constant DM, I'm always trying to get some of my party more motivated to do stuff during certain scenes and to extend a little, so the dice pool mechanic was one of my favorite things I've read in ages. And the way that success is determined, while simplistic, is a great simple mechanic. It all just WORKS and I love that this feels so much more like an appropriate Pulp Mythos game than like something reconfigured to allow for more heroic play. Super super excited for more!
