This is a great co-op game for families. We played this with our 5yo and 8yo. They really enjoyed getting to name and color-in their characters before we got started. This is a pretty good entry point for getting kids into the world of "questing" or DND style games, and everyone gets to work together which our family enjoys!
One recommendation for those with kids - play this with adults FIRST, the rules are long, and the game is long, so learning + playing is too long for most tiny humans. It only takes once-through for the adults to master, then you can basically pick it up and go with the kids, showing them the ropes as you go along.
Our girls are still raving about how "Cookie the Shining" and "Amelia, just Amelia" (both juiced up on potions) worked to together to defeat the evil beast!
