This game is the “One Ring” to rule all game nights! I ordered it on my son’s recommendation; he’s a die-hard LOTR geek, and a buddy of his in Tallahassee had raved about it after playing. I decided to surprise him with it for his birthday, which was only three weeks out, and finding it in stock at a fair price felt like its own quest across Middle-earth. Asmodee came through when nowhere else could, you really “saved the Fellowship” for us!
I’ll admit, my heart took a “detour to Mordor” for a bit; my son actually checked the site himself after I’d already ordered and saw it listed as out of stock, with no email on my end giving me a heads up either way. The fulfillment seemed to be moving at “Ent speed” for a while, and I’ll confess I was sweating whether it would arrive in time. (A status update or two along the way would have saved this old hobbit some worry…even Frodo got the occasional message from Gandalf!) But fear not, the order arrived two days before my son got here, second breakfast and all, and all was well in the Shire again.
Since then, we’ve played four times, losing just once, and that was a photo finish, one or two moves from victory! Talk about a “fate of the Fellowship” nail biter. The game itself is beautifully made and genuinely fun, and my son even 3D-printed custom inserts that took the presentation to the next level. We’re headed on a week’s vacation soon, and this game is definitely coming with us. You could say we’re “taking the ring” on the road.
